Poshtels The Backpacker Hostel’s Cooler Sister

Poshtels: The Backpacker Hostel’s Cooler Sister

Poshtels: The Backpacker Hostel’s Cooler Sister.

Since we all stay in hotels and hostels while on vacation, we are all familiar with them. Generally speaking, hostels are for backpackers and hotels are for more “mature” tourists. But hold on, poshtels are a new child on the block.

A poshtel is defined as “an upscale hostel” by the Urban Dictionary. combines the “hostel” sensibilities and cost with the “posh” style. An affordable and stylish hostel

It’s easy to understand why Poshtels are sweeping the travel industry. In essence, these are boutique hostels with rates in the middle of those of a hotel and a hostel. They provide excellent design, cozy lodging, strong Wi-Fi, and, for the most part, a focus on encouraging adventure and local activities.

Poshtels are essentially backpackers’ more refined older sister; they’re the ones you want to be friends with because they’re always doing something cool.

Even though this amazing lodging trend is relatively new in Africa, a number of places are ideal examples of poshtel. Seven of our favorite people in South Africa have joined us.

After arriving in Cape Town

Once in Cape Town is ideally located on Kloof Street in the center of the city, close to the bustling Long Street, the vibrant central business district, and public transportation that can take you to the beach or up the mountain.

There is a room type to fit every taste and budget, including twin, double, shared, dorm, and family rooms for four or six people. Whichever you select, they are all well-kept, fashionable, and furnished with hotel-caliber linens, among other things. You’ll be Instagramming your trip to Cape Town for everyone to see thanks to the free WiFi available everywhere—and there’s no lack of beauty here!

Once is referred to as a “All Star Hotel” in Cape Town. The description is accurate. The ticket includes a complimentary breakfast on the go from the hip Yours Truly Café, which will ensure you have enough energy for your day of activities in this stunning city. The receptionists are available around-the-clock and are pleased to offer suggestions and guidance on where to go and what to do. In the Mother City, you have an abundance of options!

Cape Town’s B.I.G.

In Green Point, the Backpackers are lovingly referred to as The B.I.G. Surprisingly, it’s located in Green Point, which is close to the city center, the notorious promenade, and the lovely beaches of the “Mother City” via public transportation.

Travelers can choose between single, double, triple, dormitory, or family rooms at the B.IG., all of which have bathrooms and are available for bed and breakfast. Free WiFi is available, along with a comfortable library, a games area, and a travel desk that highlights the many adventures and activities Cape Town has to offer.

The B.I.G. offers a dazzling pool to dive into (and lounge in) after a tiring day of vacationing in Cape Town’s flawless sunlight, as well as a garden that is ideal for braaiing, or barbecue as it is known abroad.Poshtels The Backpacker Hostel’s Cooler Sister

Cape Town’s Blouberg, The Surf Shack

The Surf Shack is the place to go whether you enjoy SUPing, surfing, or kiteboarding. Even if they aren’t, this opulent hostel boasts breathtaking views of the famous Table Mountain over Table Bay and is 700 meters from the beach. Living on a postcard is how it feels.

Dormitory rooms, basic rooms, economy rooms, and private deluxe suites are all available at The Surf Shack and are all reasonably priced. Free WiFi is available, along with a shared kitchen, lounge, games room, and—best of all—a fantastic outdoor space featuring a swimming pool and a heated elevated mini pool for chilly days.

Have no idea how to surf? Are you interested in learning SUP? There are lessons, which is good news!

Not interested in doing those things? The good news is that you can read, sunbathe, and admire the mountain across the sea from the beach, pool, and garden.

Cape Town’s Atlantic Point Backpackers

Atlantic Point Backpackers is a fantastic starting point for seeing everything Cape Town has to offer because of its convenient access to the Waterfront, the city center, and its famous beaches. Imagine Travel, their in-house tour operator, makes this even simpler.

Among the positive features are hotel-quality beds and linens, spacious and comfortable common areas, free WiFi, and complimentary breakfast. You have a winner when you combine that with a fantastic pool and outside space.

Atlantic Point Backpackers provides nine double en-suite rooms, two double rooms with a shared bathroom, and dorm-style accommodations (two 8-sleeper mixed dorms, a 4- and 6-bed dorm, and an 8-sleeper female hostel). All of them have beautiful South African artwork on the walls and are well designed.

Array Lodge in Plettenberg Bay, Africa

African Array Lodge, located in the center of the Garden Route, offers a pleasant and reasonably priced starting point for visiting this amazing region. From Mossel Bay to Storms River, the Garden Route—named for its verdant foliage, enchanted forests, lagoons, and rivers—is a popular vacation spot for both domestic and foreign tourists.

Situated in a stunning native garden that merges in with the forest, just outside of Plettenberg Bay, African Array Lodge offers views of Robberg and the Indian Ocean as well as the Piesang Valley, Jakkalskraal, and the Roodefontein Dam.

Accommodations are available at the campsite, at the backpackers’ lodge (three private rooms and a dorm), and in the lodge (two luxury en-suite rooms, two double rooms, and a dorm). There is a lounge, bar, shared kitchens, free WiFi, fully furnished rooms, and an outdoor terrace with views that will keep you there.

Backpackers Curiocity, Johannesburg

The Maboneng Precinct in Johannesburg’s central business district is one of the coolest neighborhoods. The building where Curiocity is located on Fox Street was once Pacific Press, which during the apartheid era printed the publications for the Black Sash Movement and the ANC’s Fighting Talk magazine. There are rumors that they have provided shelter to people like Joe Slovo and our hero Madiba on multiple occasions.

As hip as the neighborhood it’s located in, Curiocity provides visitors with a restaurant and bar on-site, a sunny balcony to observe the street life below, relaxation spaces, free WiFi, and a variety of excursions and activities to experience this intriguing city.

Standard double rooms with shared bathrooms, the loft private en-suite double apartment, 4-, 6-, 8-, and 12-sleeper mixed dorms, 8- and 10-sleeper women-only dorms, and, for a completely different experience, the Relay Space Program, a lighthouse sculpture with a double bed, kitchenette, and outdoor shower overlooking Jozi, are located a block away from the hostel.
