ITINERARY FOR THE 5 DAYS GORILLAS AND CHIMPANZEES SAFARI
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National park
After breakfast(6:00 am) you be picked by our guide who will transfer you through major towns of Kampala, Mityana, Mubende & Kyenjojo, have a stopover at the cultural spiritual tree(Nakayima), meet story tellers (tell you about Buganda culture) and then proceed to Fort-portal by the green cover of large tea plantations(mid-day), stopover for Lunch. Later afternoon if time allows, you can visit ‘Amabeera ga Alina wire-cultural site ‘beautiful scenery and with background stories. Check in your lodge/Guest house, relax, Dinner and overnight stay at Chimpanzee Forest guest house.
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and Nature walk (Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary)
Have breakfast (6:00 am), and then transfer to the park headquarters (Kanyanchu Tourism center) by your guide for briefings, where you will be divided into small groups of six people headed by one guide, by 8:00 am embark on your chimpanzee tracking trail. This experience usually takes 2-5 hrs and only permitted 1 hr with the Chimpanzees, involving hikes through the forested landscape, return back to your lodge, freshen up, relax, have lunch and later prepare for the nature walk in the Bigodi wetland.
Nature walk is done in the Bigodi Swamp this is to enable you spot primates like Vervet & L’Hoest monkey and also observe plenty of bird species. You will return to the lodge in the evening for your dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha Section of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Breakfast and then get ready to set off for Bwindi Impenetrable National park, sparing 1 hr for Game drive in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park hoping to spot the tree climbing lions, later reaching Bwindi via Buhoma section for lunch, and an overnight. relax, Dinner at Buhoma community lodge.
Day 4: Gorilla tracking and Transfer to lake Bunyonyi
Have breakfast, then transfer to the headquarters for briefing, you will get divided into small groups of 8 members by the Uganda Wildlife ranger and embark on your tracking of the mountain Gorillas. Equipped with enough drinking water, you are good to go, because the tracking experience can sometimes be long and tough. It takes about 2-8 hrs, and goes through steep rocks, climbing up and down but only allowed to have 1 hr to spend with these Gorillas.
After your close encounter with the Gorillas you will return to the Lodge and depart for Lake Bunyonyi, relax and can do nature walks at the lake shores, Dinner and overnight stay at Bunyonyi overland.
Day 5: Morning Canoeing and Departure
There will be a very early morning canoe riding on lake bunyonyi before departing, then embark your transfer back to Kampala or Entebbe concluding your 5 Day Gorilla and Chimpanzees safari, have a lunch stopover at Mbarara and then proceed to Kampala city.
