11 Days Uganda Birding safari is a great exploration journey with a wide variety of birds. From your entrance through the several towns with varied bird species, the people are welcoming with unique cultural backgrounds and settings. It begins with Uganda’s rhinos at Ziwa, Entebbe. DAY 1: Arrival and Optional Birding in Entebbe

A professional tour guide from monumental expeditions will pick you up at Entebbe International and transfer you to your accommodation in Entebbe. Check-in and relax at the hotel before spending the remainder of the day at leisure.

Depending on your arrival time, you may choose to participate in an elective activity that is not part of your primary program.

Botanical Gardens a few kilometers from the airport for a birdwatching tour

The gardens provide a safe refuge for Uganda’s birds, which include the magnificent Ross and the big blue Turaco, Palm Nut vulture, African Grey parrot, and white bat Hawk, grey kestrel, golden-backed weaver, and thin billed, among others.

Visit the Mbamba Swamp.

The Mabamba swamp is home to a variety of species, but most visitors are drawn to the large bird known as the shoe bill stock. The birding safari is conducted in a motorised canoe in search of the shoe bill stork and other bird species during an expedition to the Mabamba wetland.

Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge

11 Days Uganda BirdingDAY 2: Birding at Uwec Zoo and Lutembe Bay

After breakfast at 7:00 a.m., you will be picked up for a half-day birding excursion to the Uganda Wildlife Education Conservation Centre. Expect to see the Ostrich, seasonal Egyptian goose, Little egrets at the first exhibit, shoe bill, the fascinating big bird also found in the Mabamba swamp in Entebbe, pelicans, peacocks, little owls, African grey parrot, Graceful crested crane (National Bird), Marabou stork, Hammer kops, kingfishers at the chimpanzee exhibit, African Fish Eagle, and great blue turacos. You will then enjoy lunch at the Uganda Wildlife Conservation Centre’s lakeside restaurant before continuing on to Lutembe Bay for further birding.

Egrets, storks, Black-winged stilt Hammer kop, Tree pipits, Yellow-throated long claw, Flappet, Rufus-necked larks, Senegal African wattle, Spur-winged lapwing, Grey-clapping sedge and Reed wobblers, Common moorhen, Black crakes, chets, Weavers, widow birds, Doves, and White and brown scrub robin, simple-backed grassland coucal, blue-headed coucal, and white-brown coucal Later, you’ll return to the resort and unwind while waiting for supper.

DAY 3: Transfer from Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, your guide will take you up at 7:00 a.m., and you will check out. Driving through the tranquilly of rolling hills and landscapes to the western part of Uganda. You will stop for lunch along route in Fort Portal village, which overlooks the picturesque Rwenzori highlands, popularly known as the “moon mountains.” After lunch, you will travel through Fort Portal town to your lodging, arriving late in the afternoon.

DAY 4: Full-Day Birding in Kibale Forest

After breakfast at 9:00 a.m., you will depart for the forest for a full day of birding. Kibale forest is home to more than 335 bird species, including the Uganda woodland warbler, grey-winged robin, Abyssinian ground thrush, grey-headed oli, grey-throated flycatcher, crested flycatcher, red-winged francolin, red-cheated fluff tail, white-naped pigeon masked and black cappedapalises, chestnut wing starling orange, and others. You pack a lunch, continue your birding adventure, and then return to the resort.

11 Days Uganda BirdingDAY 5: Birding in the Bigodi Swamp

Following your breakfast at 8:00 a.m., you will be setting out to visit the Bigodi swamp. Bigodi is on the outskirts of Kibale Forest, and during the swamp walk trail, we shall look out for a number of birds with sights and sounds of harmonic melody, such as Papyrus gonolek, the great blue turaco, the shining blue king fisher, the pied hornbill, and yellow-spotted, hairy-breasted, and yellow-billed birds. You may either bring your own lunch to Bigodi or return to the resort for lunch. The rest of the day is free at the lodge.

11 Days Uganda BirdingDAY 6: Transfer from Kibale Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Breakfast will be served at 8:00 a.m., followed by a drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which offers a breathtaking view of the Rwenzori hills and Savannah grassland plains. The African Broadbill, Martial Eagle, Black Rumped Flycatcher, African Skimmer, Verreaux’s Eagle Owl, White-Tailed Lark, Black Bee-Eater, and pink-backed pelican are among the 600 bird species found on Queen Elizabeth. You will check in at the lodge, enjoy lunch, and spend the rest of the day at your leisure. Depending on the time of day, you may choose an evening game drive.

DAY 7: Crater Lakes Birding and Boat Safari

After breakfast, go for a drive to visit the stunning crater lakes, which are also fantastic birding locations. Birding paradises include Blue Lake, Lake Katwe, Nyamunuka, and Munyanyange. You’ll also go to the bat cave to watch the bats, and if you’re lucky, you could encounter an African rock python or a forest cobra. You’ll return to the lodge for an early lunch before your boat safari.

After an afternoon journey to the pier, you will go on a boat safari on the Kazinga waterway, which connects Lakes Edward and Gorge in the park. During the boat safari, you will see and hear several bird species, such as the African Broadbill, Martial Eagle, Black Rumped Fly Catcher, African Skimmer, Verreaux’s Eagle Owl, White-Tailed Lark, Black Bee Eater, and the pink-backed pelican, among others.

We will also see schools of hippos and crocodiles along the seashore, as well as various animal species, come down to bathe and drink water to cool down in the heat.

You will return to the lodge, rest, and have supper with the overnight guests.

11 Days Uganda BirdingDay 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Birding.

After breakfast, you will check out and travel through the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park known as the ishasha sector, which is famous for tree-climbing lions. Expect to see a variety of animals, including water bucks, elephants, antelopes, buffalos, and kobs, among others. With your packed lunch, look out for the famous tree-climbing lions and a variety of bird species on your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is home to the endangered Bwindi, a birding paradise with around 340 bird species. You will arrive at the park in the afternoon, eat lunch, and then depart for another birding adventure. Rwenzori Baits, Archer’s Robin-Chat, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Yellow-eyed Fly Catcher, and many more.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay

DAY 9: Birding in Bwindi Forest & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast at the lodge, you will go for the forest in search of the Olive long-tailed cuckoos, Fine-branded and Oriole-finch, Fraser’s Eagle-owl, Bar-tailed Trogon, Will cock’s Honeyguide, and the Black Bee-Eater, among other species. Lunch will be served at the resort. After lunch, you will be transferred to Lake Bunyonyi, commonly known as the Land of 29 Islands (a place of small birds). When you get at your hotel, you will check-in, relax, and have supper.

11 Days Uganda BirdingDAY 10: Lake Bunyonyi Birding Experience & Boat Ride

After breakfast at the lodge, you will go on a boat tour on Lake Bunyonyi for a birding expedition in search of rare bird species such as African Harrier Hawks, Grey Crowned Cranes, Goliath Herons, White Egrets, woodpeckers, and so on. You will return to the resort for lunch and leisure while taking in the beautiful scenery of the lake. The lake is especially well-known for its 29 islands, which are dispersed across the lake. You will also be served supper at the resort.

DAY 11: Transfer from Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala

After your early morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and then drive towards Kampala. You shall stop over at the Equator for lunch, experience the experience the Equator,, take pictures, or buy souvenirs, and later you shall embark on your journey to Kampala or Entebbe on time for your flight back home.
