Day 1: Arrival at Kigali international airport and transfer to Gisenyi

After meeting up with our tour guide at Kigali international airport, you will have a briefing and then start with a drive to Gisenyi town the largest town among lake Kivu towns. You will have a pleasant time in Gisenyi because of the lovely beaches and because you may take a boat tour from Lake Kivu while seeing a succession of islands and viewing the Nyiragongo volcano. You will eat lunch in Gisenyi and then cross the Congo border to Goma. Goma provided dinner and lodging.

 

Day 2: nyirangongo hiking

After your morning breakfast, your guide will drive you to Virunga national park headquarters for the briefing before the hiking starts. If you start trekking from Kibati at 10:30 a.m., it will take you around 5 hours to reach the peak of Nyiragongo Mountain. The path will be steep, muddy, and slippery, with thorns and big trees along the way. Dinner and overnight stay at the mountain camp.

 

Day 3: descending and departure

After breakfast, you will descend the mountain and meet up with your guide and start your departing journey back home. leaving with unforgetable memories of the nyirangongo volcano. Marking the end of your safari with an en-route lunch.
