6-day Tanzania self-drive safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Your 6-day Tanzania self-drive tour will begin in Arusha, where our driver will bring your 4×4 and give you instructions. With nine different plant communities, Tarangire is known for having a very varied environment. The park is best known for its many old baobab trees, which are the biggest trees on the continent and make the animals that live there look small.

Animals like lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, and elephants live along the park’s river. Tarangire National Park has the most elephants of any park in the country, and visitors can watch how elephant families connect with each other. In the afternoon, we will still go on a game drive. Then, we will head to your camping spot and set up your 4×4 and air tent for the night.

Day 2: Game drive in Tarangire National Park.

You can drive your own car all day in the lovely Tarangire National Park. You are free to choose what you want because you will be in Tanzania on a self-drive tour. You can choose to stay in a hotel or at the lovely hostel in Tarangire where you will sleep again.

Day 3. Drive to Lake Manyara National Park

Next, you’ll drive through the Great Rift Valley to get to Lake Manyara National Park in time for a full day of game drives. The park is only 205 square miles, but it has beautiful views. People love it because it has a thick acacia forest with big fig and mahogany trees and more and more baboons and blue monkeys. Giraffes, elephants, impalas, and a lot of buffalo live in this park as well. A lot of hippos live in the lake as well.

Day 4. Self-drive in Lake Manyara National Park

You can go on a self-drive tour in Manyara Lake to see the famous tree-climbing lions. They live in mahogany and acacia trees, and if you’re lucky, you might see one of them relaxing on a branch. There are a lot of wildebeest, giraffes, zebras, and big buffalo grazing on the open grassy sides of the lake as you walk out of the dense bushland. A lot of birds live in the lake and do well right next to the water. One of the best parts of today’s events is seeing the thousands of flamingos walking around the lake. More than 400 kinds have been named.

Day 5. Self-drive safari to Ngorongoro Conservation area.

Take a game drive to Ngorongoro Crater. You will be amazed by how beautiful the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is as soon as you get there. Even more so when you get to the edge of the crater and see one of the natural wonders of the world from above. This volcano is no longer active, but its crater is still 20 km² and about 3 million years old.

It is the world’s biggest unbroken volcanic caldera. The wildlife in the crater is unique because of its natural edges. The Big Five live in the crater, and it’s a great place to see the rare black rhino. When you add in hyenas, zebras, buffaloes, and elephants, you have everything you need for a pretty awesome adventure!

Day 6. Drive back to Arusha

Your 4×4 self-drive tour rental is over today. You will meet someone from our company to return the car. We hope you had a great time on vacation in Tanzania.
