Zip Lining In Mabira Forest – Canopy Super Sky Way.

Zip lining in Mabira forest

Zip lining in Mabira forest – Canopy super sky way.

When you go zip lining over the Mabira Forest canopy, you’ll feel like a monkey! The very first one in Uganda. A canopy “zip-line” system, the Mabira Forest Canopy Super Skyway whisks riders away among the rainforest’s highest trees. Situated 44 kilometers east of Kampala City, you will be escorted by knowledgeable sky captains or guides as you glide over a 250-meter-long network of five zip lines that straddle the River Musamya.

Participants are belayed up the first tree, taken through the full system, and repelled on a 78m diagonal zip using climbing gear and art high ropes imported from America, all in accordance with stringent international safety regulations. Ziplining over the treetops is an unforgettable experience because of the breathtaking views of the forest floor, animals (such as red-tailed monkeys and grey-cheeked mangabeys), birds (such as palm nut vultures, African fish eagles, great blue turacos), and the thundering griffin falls.

Nature hikes and other forest-based activities at Mabira’s core forest reserve

Mabira is a deep rain forest with approximately 68 km of well-developed paths. The forest is a lovely environment for walking experiences, and there are plentiful primate populations, such as red-tailed monkeys, black and white Colobus monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys.

Trekking uphill.

One of the best things to do in Mabira Forest is to rent mountain bikes and ride around the forest’s edge paths, taking in the breathtaking scenery along the way.

Viewing Birds.

Viewing Birds. More than three hundred and fifteen bird species call Mabira forest home. Among them are some uncommon and exotic birds, such as the Nahan’s francolin, Tit Hylia, long bills (yellow and grey), purple-throated cuckoo shrikes, illadopsises, and Jameson’s wattle eyes. Mabira is the best forest in Uganda to watch forest birds, with 46% of the country’s bird species being found there.

Research and Education on the Environment.

A significant part of MAFICO’s objective is environmental education. Griffin Falls Camp welcomes students of all academic backgrounds. Programs are available for elementary and secondary schools, and we also provide guides that may help with research at the university or professional level. Large groups may be accommodated and educated by us.

Hiking, picnics, and camping.

The Mabira Forest Reserve has a campground where campers may set up their tents for the night.

Primate Observation.

Three kinds of monkeys call Mabira home: the red-tailed monkey, the black-and-white Colobus monkey, and the Uganda mangabey. We will identify butterflies and explore the forest in general.

At the Eco-Tourism Site next to Najjembe Trading Centre, Mabira has three bandas that can seat a maximum of ten guests. The Bandas are self-catering, however the housekeeper is happy to provide light meals upon request. Near the site, for a little cost, you can also find a camping ground suitable for do-it-yourself caravans.
