What to consider when getting ready for a Uganda Family Safaris

Children ‘s Age Bracket

Recommendable age for one to be referred to as a child is when below 15yrs, this means family safari tourists do pay for entrance fee and then entrée the National park, but then children that are below 5 yrs are not charged entrance fee. When preparing for a Uganda Family safaris age is so imperative a factor reason being that there are activities like Gorilla trekking that takes place in Bwindi Impenetrable /Mgahinga Gorilla National parks& allows children of above 15 yrs. of age, Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park which only permits children of above 12 yrs only. So this only answers back that if parents want to involve themselves in any of the above mentioned activities then they will let their children engage in other activities in these parks like spotting of Wildlife such as Trees, Baboons, Birds, Monkeys, etc.

Company /Safari operator to Use

As regards this safari, still one should be in position to consider which tour operating company he/she is to use on your Uganda Family safari. This company must be having the following credentials like the company should be registered with the Tourism Association such as AUTO, UTB and so on, the rates/price, ability to organise family safaris. Monumental Expeditions Safaris is a fully registered company that establishes/organises family safaris to different Terminus and at reasonable prices. Once planning a family safari in Uganda please you are advised to be mindful of where you are going to stay(Accommodation). Select or make choice of where to stay that will offer you quiet a relaxed/comfortable atmosphere, roomy en-suite bathrooms, laundry amenities, etc. To top it up this place must be able to accommodate both the young children & the old people. Some places where to stay like the lodges/hotels don’t provide side beds for children therefore when booking a lodge make sure its roomy/spacious enough to accommodate a side bed for your young ones in case you moved with them.

Activities to participate in while on your Uganda family safari

Family Game drive

This is an interesting activity one can engage in with his/her family as well, stimulating and exciting to discover and have a wide view of the National parks’ beauty, Wildlife (big five-lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes & rhinos plus others like zebras, Giraffes, warthogs, Elands, etc.) in the cosiness of the safari van. On your Uganda Family safari, you can embark on a Game Drive in National parks like Kidepo Valley, Lake Mburo, Murchison falls in Buligi game track –Northern section/Queen Elizabeth National Park in Kasenyi plains. Note this that game drives in the above mentioned parks are done in the morning (7:00 am) /in the evening. The game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park you have a chance to spot the tree climbing lions which will be lazily laying up in the fig trees at the section of Ishasha.

Horse Riding

This activity is mainly carried out in Lake Mburo National Park and at the source of the Nile with skilled guides where one is in front to direct you and the other behind in case of any problem. Here as you get engaged in the family horse riding you will be able to discover the open savannah plains, wild animals on a horse back as children ride ponies in Lake Mburo National park and at the source of the Nile you will discover and view the lovely setting/backdrop, landscapes, children swimming and the indigenous communities as you horse ride.

The family Boat cruise

This is another fascinating activity where you and your family will boat cruise along the Kazinga channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Lake Mburo National Park and Murchison falls National Park along the Nile river. This activity enables you to wide view Wildlife, Birds among others. Family Boat cruise on kazinga channel takes about 2 hrs and you are able to widely view water animals like the Hippos, crocodiles and several other animals along the water banks like elephants, Buffaloes,Waterbucks, lions plus birds inclusive(pink backed pelican, saddle billed stork, African Jacana, open billed stork, etc).Boat cruise in Murchison falls National Park is done up stream at the lowermost of the falls and downstream at the Victoria Nile Delta.

Take caution of the following

The Highlight of most of the Uganda Safaris is Gorilla Trekking and remember it takes place in Bwindi Impenetrable forest, this activity doesn’t involve children below the age of 15 yrs.The same goes for Chimpanzee trekking. But then Kibale National Park has gotten a different kind of care it offers children because of the guides who are there to take them around the forest plus making them learn a few tactics of how to survive while in the forest.

The major and reasonable means of transport used in Uganda is Road transport, and then let it cross your mind as well that the road system in Uganda is not the finest since most of the roads are rough, with potholes, etc. And with this making transferring /travelling very unpleasant, you take longer than if the roads were in better shape. Still you should make sure you get an updated map of Uganda if your plans are to engage in a self-drive to Uganda’s National Parks with your family.

In case you are planning to embark on a Gorilla trekking activity and well included in your travel plan for a Uganda Family safari, then its best you first relish the forest creatures of Bwindi Impenetrable forest first. Bwindi Impenetrable National forest is a dense and remotest National forest ,so it would be best if you plan your expedition very well so that you don’t miss out on anything especially your involvement in the Gorilla trekking activity.
