Tribes In Rwanda

Tribes in Rwanda

Tribes in Rwanda, Rwanda is known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.” French and English are the recognized languages, but Kinyarwanda is the language that most people speak. The only way to get to Rwanda is by road. It is in east-central Africa, south of the Equator, and is known for its beautiful scenery. In addition, it is in a great place with lots of wildlife that can be seen on a Rwanda Safari, like gorilla climbing in Volcanoes National Park, among other amazing things despite the culture. Rwanda has beautiful scenery that tourists can enjoy on their way to mountains and while tracking chimpanzees in Nyungwe National Park.

Also, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo are all in the Great Lakes area of East Africa, which includes Rwanda. Rwanda is a small destination, but it’s not bad because it has a nice temperature, lots of things to do, and beautiful scenery. To be happy is to go on a journey to its end. That’s when you’ll understand why Rwanda was called “a land of a thousand hills.” As a culture, Rwandans share ideals like loyalty to their country, toughness, community, and hard work. Kinyarwanda is the language spoken by everyone in the country.

But Rwanda is made up of three tribes: the Hutu, the Tutsi, and the Twa. The Hutu, the Tutsi, and the Twa all have their own unique cultures, which are interesting to see on Rwanda safari tours.

Tutsi

One in fourteen people in Rwanda are from the Tutsi tribe, making them the second most popular ethnic group.

The Tutsi typically raise long-horned cattle and are called “Inyambo” by the people who live in the area. These cows are very important to them. If you are going on vacation in Rwanda, look in the north for the Tutsi.

The Hutu

Over eighty-five percent of the people living in Rwanda are Hutu. They are a big group of people in Rwanda.

The Hutu have always been farmers, and they are known for farming Rwanda’s rolling hills in a way that is both efficient and environmentally friendly. They used to be very numerous, but tribal wars, which finally ended in death, caused their numbers to drop.

Twa

The Twa are another tribe in Rwanda. They are the least numerous ethnic group in the country, with only 1% of the population.

The Twa are usually known as forest people because they make their living in the forest and are good at traditional Rwandan entertainment.

People don’t talk about these groups in public right now because of the pain and killing that happened when the country was genocided. People in the area usually just call themselves Rwandans, which gets rid of any ethnic differences. The 1994 Rwandan Civil War, which led to the Rwandan genocide, is known as the Rwanda genocide in history. It took more than 100 days of killing because so many people were hurt so badly during this crisis.

At the time of the genocide, there was a strong army and Hutu militia groups with the mottos Interahamwe, which means “fight together,” and Impuzamugambi, which means “same goal.” These groups were very important in fighting the Tutsi’s FPRA.

Over the course of 100 days, millions of Rwandans were killed during the genocide. Most of those killed were Tutsis. Remember that talking about what happened in Rwanda can get you jail time because that is seen as very bad in that country. Also, it looks like it’s against the law to talk about race, which is very offensive to what happened between Rwanda’s sub-tribes. The act of division is what it is called in Rwanda’s penal code.
