Ndere Dance Troupe Kampala
Ndere Dance Troupe Kampala – Gorilla tracking in Uganda.
Since “endere” means “flute” in Swahili, the Ndere Troupe is a dancing group based in Kampala, Uganda.
Many African cultures hold the flute in high regard as a symbol of beauty due to its remarkable ability to create music that evokes a wide spectrum of feelings, from joy to sadness, love to isolation.
All cultures throughout the globe have flutes, thus it’s a sign of how interconnected all people are. No matter how different we may seem on the outside, the flute is like the blood that runs through our body. Embracing diversity while highlighting similarities is something the Ndere Troupe is quite proud of.
Rawangyezi Stephen hired a large number of youths from the Ndere center when he established the Ndere Troupe in 1986 as a cultural development.
Dance encyclopedia of the Ndere troupe
Because of the absence of written language in Africa’s past, oral traditions such as music, dance, storytelling, and poetry have served as archival repositories for the continent’s rich cultural history, knowledge, and wisdom.
With an emphasis on education and a desire to preserve African culture, the Ndere Troupe presents a musical program that includes over 40 traditional Ugandan dances and songs played on a variety of traditional wind, string, and percussion instruments.
The Troupe is involved in a number of initiatives that seek to teach future generations of Africans about traditional entertainment while also educating them about contemporary challenges like HIV/AIDS and modern agricultural practices via traditional entertainment.
