Lake Victoria Boat Rides
Lake Victoria Boat Rides.
John Hannington Speke, the first British explorer to record the lake, dubbed it Lake Victoria in honour of Queen Victoria. Boat excursions on the lake are available. (It has been discovered afterwards that the local guides gave it the name Lake Nyanza when they told him about it.)
In 1858, while accompanied by Richard Francis Burton on an expedition to find the Nile River’s source, Speke managed to do this. Under Rodrick Murchison’s leadership, the Royal Geographical Society provided financial support for this trip. For that reason, the national park known as Murchison Falls was named after it.
Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya form the shores of Lake Victoria, which is also known as Victoria Nyanza. The lake is the biggest in Africa and serves as the primary reservoir for the Nile River. It covers 69,484 square kilometers, or 26,828 square miles. It is the second largest freshwater lake in the world, behind Lake Superior.
It has an uneven quadrilateral form and heavily indented beaches (with the exception of the west). From north to south, it stretches for 210 miles (337 km) at its longest and 150 miles (240 km) at its widest. Its coastline is more than 3,220 kilometers long, or over 2,000 miles.
The vast plateau that connects the Western and Eastern Rift Valleys is centered by a small dip that its waters fill. At its deepest point, the lake is 270 feet (82 meters) below sea level, and its surface is 3,720 feet (1,134 meters) above. The lake is home to a plethora of archipelagos and reefs, many of which lie just under the surface of the otherwise transparent waters.
What to Do in Lake Victoria by Boat
Adventure fishing in the Victoria Lake
The most common fish species in Lake Victoria are tilapia and Nile perch, however the lake is home to the biggest freshwater fish species in the world.
We can arrange both half-day and full-day fishing trips.
Embark on sunset cruises
The most popular thing to do on the lake at sunset is to go on a boat with some cool beer and food. You can see the equator line as the sun goes down softly and birds go to their nests.
Exploring the wonders of birdwatching
This voyage may be scheduled to visit some of the islands on Lake Victoria that have become breeding grounds for various bird species, such as terns and gulls.
Relaxation voyages
Travelers may arrange for leisure excursions on the lake to visit the local fisherman, take in the breathtaking sights, and relax in the refreshing wind.
Viewing of chimpanzees
You may ask about the availability of boat tours to the Ngamba Island chimpanzee sanctuary in the mornings and afternoons.
Relaxing getaway at the beach
Ssesse Island is a great destination for anyone seeking a peaceful getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
