Budget birding tours in Semuliki National Park
Budget birding tours in Semuliki National Park – 3 Days Birding safaris to Mabamba swamp and Semuliki National Park.
Situated in the southern west on the border of Uganda and DR Congo in the Albertine rift valley, the park’s great forest cover borders Congo’s Itiri forest, and with its landscape it is privileged with many flora and fauna and a variety of bird species. Budget birding trips to Semuliki National Park If you have not visited Semuliki, one of the best locations in Africa with many kinds of woodland birds, you cannot claim to have had a thorough birding tour in Uganda.
A visit to Semuliki is like a continuous journey from the West and Central Africa since mostly Central African bird species predominate here and these birds cannot just be found anywhere in East Africa such the Long-tailed Hawk, Lyre-tailed Honey guide, Black-waved Hornbill, Nkulengu Rail and the Congo serpent Eagle among others.
The park also has around five indigenous Albertine species. Black Dwarf Hornbill, red billed dwarf hornbill, the Swamp Palm Bulbul, the white crested hornbills, blue and Ross’s Turaco, Blue-billed Malimbe, Great Black-casqued Wattled Hornbill, Piping Hornbill are the birds mostly to be sought for here. Nature hikes and game dives will also allow you to see different birds.
Birding begins first in the morning till you have seen the whole area. Enter the deep rain woods, of the park; follow the paths surrounding the Sempaya hot springs; the Semuliki River hunting for birds has a wonderful and lovely sound.
Among other things, the birders book binoculars, caps, cameras, strong shoes, pointers, from materials required for birding.
Semuliki National Park has also over 235 tree species and a variety of butterfly and moth species, all of which provide a breathtaking picture.
Semuliki national park’s budget accomodation at UWA Bandas and campsites
