Planning A Team-building Safari To Trek Gorillas In Uganda

Planning a team-building safari to trek gorillas in Uganda

Planning a Team-Building Safari to Trek Gorillas in Uganda

Are you organizing a team-building experience that inspires connection, refreshes your staff, and strengthens workplace collaboration? A gorilla trekking safari in Uganda is one of the most transformative group adventures you can choose. Monumental Expeditions & Safaris organizes fully customized team-building gorilla tours designed to motivate, bond, and reward your staff.

Uganda is home to two mountain gorilla trekking destinations:

Tracking a gorilla family, spending one hour observing them in their natural habitat, and hiking together as a team creates a powerful, shared experience unlike any other team-building activity.

Where Gorilla Trekking Happens

1. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi has 19 habituated gorilla families across four sectors:

  • Buhoma

  • Ruhija

  • Rushaga

  • Nkuringo

Its thick forests and large number of gorilla families make it the most popular trekking destination for team-building safaris.

2. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Mgahinga has one habituated family—the Nyakagezi group.
This park offers quieter, less crowded treks with stunning views of the Virunga volcanoes.

Gorilla Habituation Experience

If your team wants a longer, more exclusive encounter, consider the Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi.

  • Cost: $1500 per person

  • Time with gorillas: 4 hours, instead of the standard 1 hour

  • Only two families are open for habituation experiences

This extended experience is perfect for team members who want a deeper understanding of gorilla behavior, conservation, and research.

Gorilla Trekking Permits

Permit Prices (Uganda Wildlife Authority)

  • Foreign non-residents: $800

  • Foreign residents: $700

  • East African citizens: UGX 300,000

  • 8 for Mgahinga

Permits include:
âś” Park entry
âś” Ranger guides
âś” Security escorts
âś” One hour with the gorillas (or 4 hours for habituation)

How to Purchase a Permit

You can buy your gorilla permit through:

Once we confirm your travel dates and permit availability, you can pay through bank or wire transfer. Upon securing the permits, we issue a confirmation copy by email. Your guide will carry the original permit on trek day.
