Travel Safety, Flights, Insurance and Drinks
Our top priority is your personal safety and wellbeing. Please be careful with all of your personal belongings at all times. Don’t show off big sums of cash to attract pickpockets or other criminals, especially while you’re close to marketplaces or in the heart of Kampala, Entebbe, or Kigali.
You should always carry valuables on you, including cash, traveler’s checks, and credit cards. One practical tool for keeping cash and other precious tiny objects is a “moon bag” or “body belt.” Please make sure that all of the windows are closed when you leave the car in a town and that you take your valuables and photos with you for protection.
We advise you to either use the safekeeping services offered at the various establishments or bring your cash and valuables with you when visiting lodges and hotels. Before moving on to a new location, please make sure you have everything packed and inspect your accommodation.
Flights
Reconfirming your subsequent and return flights must be done no later than 72 hours before departure. Your seats might be canceled if you don’t do this. Our Ugandan office will help with this. Please ensure that you provide us with the specifics of your return or onward flight.
Insurance
It is highly recommended that you get some kind of health insurance. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need more information. A minimum of $50,000 should be covered for medical and associated costs.![]()
Drinks
On safari, you will typically be expected to buy your own beverages. The majority of camps and lodges offer a respectable assortment of wines and spirits, with the more upscale ones typically providing a wider selection. You can easily find beer, sodas, bottled water, local gin, and other beverages anywhere. Prices differ based on where they are bought. Please be advised that for health and safety reasons, you should only drink water from bottles rather than the faucets. Everywhere along the way, you may buy bottled water, and some lodges even include a small number of courtesy bottles in the rooms. If you would like, please bring your own water bottle or a supply of water purifying pills.
Any drinks you want to keep in the car while traveling are kept in a cooler box or tiny refrigerator.
The safari vehicles also come with a complimentary beverage bag that contains tea and coffee. This is helpful for early morning game drives and to add to packed lunches on long travel days. While traveling, go over these needs with your guide.
