In case you are from Entebbe International Airport which is the major entry point to Uganda and using road transport, your drive will be approximately 9-10 hours to reach Bwindi National Park for your gorilla trekking activity. From Kampala (capital city of Uganda) to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park its over 550km on a fairly good road that is currently under construction. On your way to the park you can enjoy seeing a lot of different districts, regions, places, people, etc. in our beautiful country. You may think of stopping over at certain places like the Equator, road side crafts and fresh fruit centers. You will also have a sight of the beautiful sceneries like the Kigezi rolling hills, changes in vegetation, rivers and escarpments before reaching the home of the mountain gorillas(Bwindi).NB. If using this side from Rukungiri town to Bwindi Impenetrable National park be careful and reduce speed because the road is a bit bumpy.If driving from Lake Mburo National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable National park the duration is approximately 6-7 hours. Most companies like it stopping over at Lake Mburo National Park from Entebbe/Kampala in order to get/ have a break due to the long journey. If you are from Queen Elizabeth National Park- Bwindi the duration is approximately 5-6 hours passing through Ishasha section/region of the park – Kihihi town – then Buhoma Section of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The Ishasha section road sometimes is impassable more especially in rainy seasons when bridges tend to breakdown partly due to heavy down power and heavy tracks going to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Now when this road becomes impassable, there is a short cut that you can use or drive through but in most cases, you might find yourself using the Ishaka route then Rukungiri – Nengo and then Kihihi and lastly to Buhoma.
