Safari Clothing: Dress Code and Suggestions for Packing.

You may experience all four seasons when traveling across Uganda or Rwanda. Additionally, since it frequently rains in the highland regions of Rwanda and Uganda, some rainy weather gear will need to be brought. Lightweight rain clothing is recommended for the gorilla viewing hike.

The dress code for your safari may change slightly according on the type of excursion you select. When in a market or rural community, women are urged to cover their shoulders and knees. Since none of the lodges or hotels require formal attire, such as ties or jackets, the standard is either casual or smart casual, depending on the level. Ladies may wear a skirt, of course, but long pants and a shirt or golf shirt would be more suitable in towns and cities, as well as at some of the more upscale lodges and hotels, especially in the evenings!Safari Clothing Dress Code and Suggestions for Packing.

It is advised to wear hard-wearing clothing, such as khaki, green, and other neutral hues, rather than bright ones. Given that safari temperatures are often between 25 and 35 degrees Celsius, it is normally advised to wear shorts or lightweight pants, t-shirts, a hat, sunscreen, and other items during the day. Because tsetse flies are drawn to blue hues, stay away from wearing them in places where you can encounter them. For instance, little regions of Murchison Falls may be a good place to check with your guide.

For the mountainous regions, such as the Bwindi or Virungas, we advise you to pack something warm, such as a tracksuit, fleece, or sweater. It will be colder in the evenings because of its greater elevation. Even in the dry months, it frequently rains in the rain forest areas, thus a rain jacket or anorak is also advised. Since it’s usually cooler in the evening than during the day, long sleeves and pants are also advised for general evening wear to help prevent mosquito bites.

It is necessary to wear comfortable, durable walking shoes or boots when tracking gorillas and chimps. In general, the terrain is extremely muddy and slippery. Some of the uphill portions can be extremely steep and taxing. Wearing lightweight long pants and a long-sleeved cotton shirt is also advised to protect you from biting ants, stinging nettles, and weeds.

Jeans can become very heavy when wet, and tracksuit pants frequently get stuck on thorns, plants, etc. Gloves are also strongly advised; even inexpensive gardening gloves will work well. This will keep your hands from getting scraped while you’re gripping plants for support in crowded forest areas. To keep insects from biting you, tuck your long pants into your boots or socks. Bring old clothing for the gorilla trekking because your clothes will probably get very filthy and might not get back to normal.
