3 Days Hike Muhavura Volcano

This 3-day Muhavura Volcano Hike is a short adventure to hike one of the eight Virunga Mountain range volcanoes. Mount Muhavura is 4,127 meters high. Start hiking Mount Muhavura in the morning for 4-5 hours to its highest point. Given that the trek is worth it and you may encounter Golden monkeys, mountain Gorillas, and other primates, you must be fit. This 3-Day Muhavura Volcano Hike is an all-inclusive adventure vacation that can start and end in Entebbe/Kampala or Kigali.

Day by day

DAY 01: Pick up from Kiampala/Entebbe and Transfer to Kisoro for overnight

In Kampala or Entebbe, the driver will pick you up from the hotel or airport. You will then begin your journey to Kisoro, a town near the Muhavura Volcano, arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight. Along the way, you will stop at the Equator and have lunch, and then continue south to Kisoro for the night.

DAY 02: Full Day Hiking Muhavura Volcano]

You will get up early, eat breakfast at the Lodge, and then drive to the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park headquarters for a briefing. There, you will be given knowledgeable guides for the hike, which will take you about four to five hours to complete. Along the way, you will have several rest periods. Following some time spent exploring atop the volcano, you will return to the starting point and make your way to the lodge for rest, supper, and overnight. You will also visit the nearby community for a Batwa cultural experience, depending on your fitness level and how long it takes you to return from the mountain.

DAY 03: Departure back to Kampala/Entebbe to End the 3 Days Muhavura Volcano Hike

After driving back to Entebbe/Kampala for drop-off, you will have breakfast at the resort to conclude your three-day Muhavura Volcano Hike. Should you decide to conclude this trip in Kigali, you have the option of doing a Morning Gorilla Trek or Golden Monkey at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Following the trek, you can continue on to Kigali for your flight out or drop-off at the Lodge.
