In Rwanda, when is the best time to go gorilla trekking?
The months of June through October and December through March are the best times to go gorilla trekking in Rwanda. This is because the country experiences mild rainfall during this dry season, which makes it easy to trek through the forests. Additionally, the vegetation is not yet fully grown, making it easy to see the primates and providing excellent photo opportunities.
Since primates don’t travel as far in search of food during the other months of April, May, and November—which are typically wet seasons—the vegetation grows higher during these times, making sightings more difficult. However, because food is more easily accessible in the forest, the treks are typically shorter than during the dry seasons.
