8 Days Big Five Kenya
This 8-day Kenya Big Five Safari is an excellent way to see birds and wildlife. During this safari, you will see the Ol Pejeta Conservancy to learn more about rhinos, Samburu National Reserve, Lake Nakuru National Park, and Maasai Mara National Reserve to see wildlife. Numerous opportunities to see Kenya’s Big 5 species as well as other wildlife will result from this. Starting and ending in Nairobi, this 8-day Kenya Big Five Safari is an all-inclusive trip that can be tailored to your interests.
Day by day
DAY 01: Pick up and drive to Samburu National Reserve for an evening game drive and overnight.
After breakfast, you will meet your safari driver guide at your Nairobi lodge for a briefing about your trip. After that, you will drive to Samburu National Reserve and arrive at your lodge for lunch. After lunch and some downtime, you will go on an afternoon game drive to look for late grazers. Finally, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY 02: Full Day Game Drives in Samburu National Reserve
Following breakfast at your lodge, you will embark on a full-day game drive in Samburu National Reserve. You will bring a picnic lunch, and you will spend the entire day there looking for and observing different species. You will also get the opportunity to explore the reserve’s breathtaking scenery and abundant bird life.
DAY 03: Drive to Ol pejeta Conservancy
Make your way to Ol Pejeta Conservancy around lunchtime so you can settle into your camp and eat lunch. Following lunch, you will visit the chimpanzee and morani sanctuaries, embark on a wildlife drive in the afternoon, and then head back to your camp for supper and the night.
DAY 04: Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park for an afternoon game drive
Following breakfast at the Lodge, you will drive to Lake Nakuru National Park and go on an en route wildlife drive. You will make a quick lunch stop in Nairobi. Numerous animals can be found in Lake Nakuru National Park, such as lions, buffalos, hippos, waterbucks, warthogs, baboons, the endangered Rothschild’s giraffes, which are only found in this park in Kenya, white rhinos, and the rare black rhinos, which are protected and guarded here. Leopards are also frequently seen sleeping on the branches of the magnificent yellow-barked acacias. Come for a game drive in the late afternoon.
DAY 05: Drive to Masai Mara National Reserve
Drive to the renowned Masai Mara National Reserve, which is the setting for “the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth,” which is the yearly migration of more than a million wildebeest, following breakfast and a briefing from your driver guide. Get to your camp in time for lunch. Take a safari in the most visited reserve in Kenya for the afternoon. Return to the lodge in time for supper and campfire cocktails.
DAY 06: Full Day Game drives in Mara National Reserve
You will spend your two days on safari in the most abundant animal watching area in Africa. The Mara has historically been home to Kenya’s largest herds of elephants and lion prides. In addition to spotted hyenas, cheetahs, and leopards, the Mara River is home to large Nile crocodiles and fat hippo pods.
DAY 07: Game viewing. Maasai Village Visit and optional balloon ride in Masai Mara National Park
At an additional cost, take advantage of the chance to fly over the Mara in a hot air balloon. A champagne brunch in the wild is included in the balloon package! Seeing a lot of game afloat in a balloon is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, if you have the funds. Or, for an additional fee, go to a Masai community and learn about their culture.
DAY 08: Departure back to Nairobi to end your 8 Days Kenya Big Five Safari
Say goodbye to the Masai Mara as you depart for Nairobi after breakfast at the Camp. Return to Nairobi by driving down the Great Rift Valley, passing Mount Longonot, the dormant volcano, and the lakes Elementeita and Naivasha. Head up the escarpment and watch for gazelle and giraffe populations. Early in the afternoon, you will land in Nairobi, the vibrant capital of Kenya. Spend time shopping at the last minute. You are responsible for making your own lunch arrangements.
Make your way to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi in time for your flight out.
