The History of Gorilla Trekking in the Nkuringo Sector

Gorilla trekking in Nkuringo dates back to 1997, when the first gorilla family in this area was officially habituated for tourism. Since then, the region has grown steadily into a top gorilla-tracking destination. Today, there are three habituated gorilla families in the Nkuringo sector, each giving visitors an unforgettable opportunity to observe mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.
