4 Days Congo Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking Tour

During this four-day journey in Congo, you will visit Virunga National Park to engage in both gorilla and chimpanzee activities. Virunga National Park is one of the only places in the world where mountain gorillas and chimpanzees live and open trekking is available. This is a fantastic chance to combine gorilla tracking with chimpanzee trekking or habitat experience. This all-inclusive tour includes return airport transfers and will begin and conclude in Kigali.

Day by day

DAY 01:  Pick up from Kigali to Bukima in Congo

The driver will pick you up from the hotel early in the morning and give you an overview of the safari. The trip takes four hours to reach Goma town, where you will stop for lunch, after the driver transfers you from Kigali to Bukima in Congo. After lunch, he will keep driving to Bukima, where you will spend the night.

DAY 02: Gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park

Your guide will take you to the Park Headquarters for a briefing after your early breakfast, where you will join other people before beginning your gorilla walk in the Virunga forest. Depending on where you are assigned to hike with the mountain gorilla family on that specific day, this trek may take anything from thirty minutes to seven hours. After locating the gorillas, you will have the opportunity to spend an hour with them, observing their behavior and taking pictures. Following this, you will be required to return to the Park Headquarters to conclude your journey.

DAY 03: Chimpanzee trekking/Habituation in Virunga National Park

Your guide will take you to the Park Headquarters for a briefing after your early breakfast, where you will join other people before beginning your gorilla walk in the Virunga forest. Depending on where the chimpanzee family you are assigned to journey with on that specific day, this trek may take anywhere from thirty minutes to seven hours.

After locating the chimps, you will have the opportunity to spend an hour with them, observing their behavior and taking pictures. Following this, you will be required to return to the Park Headquarters to conclude your journey. Please inform us so that we may make the appropriate reservations for you if you decide to participate in the chimpanzee habituation experience, which will involve spending the entire day with chimpanzees.

DAY 04:Departure to Kigali to End the tour

You will either be transported back to Kigali for your post-tour lodging after breakfast at your lodge, or on the final day of your tour, you might opt to fly out of Kigali. You will make a second stop at the Rwanda-Congo border crossing because you will be returning by the same road. You can take pictures, buy souvenirs, or just unwind before continuing on to Kigali.
