Day 3: Gorilla Trekking

The big day itself is today. Get ready to meet the endangered mountain gorilla, one of the gentle giants of Bwindi.
The only forest in Africa that can claim to include both mountain gorillas and chimpanzees is Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. In addition, it is home to 360 birds, 113 animal species, five more primate species, and more than 200 butterflies.
The gorillas you follow are part of one of nine habituated family groups that can live with people for a short time each day.
It can take anywhere from 2 hours to 7 hours to trace the gorillas. Your group will have no more than an hour to spend with the gorillas after they have been discovered. Meeting a mountain gorilla in person is an incredibly moving and humbling experience. An incredible and unique chance to get up close and personal with Uganda’s own “Gorillas in the Mist” is presented here.
This afternoon, head back to the lodge to unwind in the breathtaking surroundings.
