Each way, the boat ride takes from 45 minutes to an hour. You can feed the chimps, learn about them, and see the guides engage with them through various activities including plays and sound calls while you’re at Ngamba. Along with taking in the views and sounds of Lake Victoria, this tour will also allow you to see a variety of bird species.

DAY 03: Drive to Lake Bunyonyi for overnight via a stop at the Equator

After breakfast at your lodge today, you will travel to Lake Bunyonyi in southern Uganda. Following your afternoon arrival at your lodge for lunch, unwinding while taking in the lake views, dinner, and overnight, you will make a detour at the Equator for an Equator experience, coffee, and photos. Lake Bunyonyi is well-known for its several stunning historical islands and a variety of bird species that you can witness while canoeing.

DAY 04: Morning canoe boat ride on the lake and transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

You will take a private canoe boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi to see the historical islands, enjoy sightseeing, and observe birds after breakfast at the lodge. Following any extra activities, you will go to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, where you will spend the night and have dinner. Since Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is the only national park in East Africa where you can see mountain gorillas and golden monkeys, it has earned the moniker “Where Gold Meets Silver.” Since it is situated inside the three volcano mountains of Gahinga, Muhavura, and Sabinyo, you can also go hiking there. This makes it a unique destination for most adventure travelers and tourists.

DAY 05: Golden Monkey tracking and Batwa cultural trail experience

Following breakfast at the Lodge, you will drive to the park headquarters for a briefing. From there, you will begin your hike through the forest in search of the Golden Monkeys. Park rangers will walk and hike with you along designated trails, guiding you the entire time. Once you locate the Golden Monkeys, you will have an hour-long encounter with them before walking back to meet your driver guide. Depending on when you finish the hike and your level of fitness, you will have the opportunity to participate in the Batwa cultural trail experience.

DAY 06: Gorilla tracking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Following breakfast at the lodge, you will go to the park headquarters to receive a briefing from ranger guides from the Uganda Wildlife Authority. They will then assign you to a gorilla family group for the day’s trekking. You will begin your quest for the endangered rare species of mountain gorillas in the Gahinga montane forest with a group of eight visitors, researchers, and ranger guides. Every gorilla hunt starts at the location where they were last spotted the day before. You will only have an hour to spend with these well-known animals once you get at their location. After you walk back to the main area to pick up your certificates, you are free to take pictures and other pictures. Your driver guide will be there to take you back to your lodge.

DAY 07: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for overnight

If you would like, you can stay at the lodge for a longer period of time so that you can drive to Bwindi after lunch or visit the local community, including the schools, where you can inspire the students and offer them gifts.

DAY 08: Gorilla Habituation/tracking Experience in Bwindi Forest

Following breakfast at the lodge, you will go to the park headquarters to receive a briefing from ranger guides from the Uganda Wildlife Authority. They will then assign you to a gorilla family group for the day’s trekking. You will begin your quest for the endangered rare species of mountain gorillas in the dense, impenetrable forest with a group of four visitors, researchers, and ranger guides. Every gorilla hunt starts at the location where they were last spotted the day before. You will only be permitted to spend four hours interacting with these well-known creatures once you get at their location, and you should always maintain the utmost silence when around gorillas. You are permitted to take pictures and so forth. During nighttime community walks in the neighboring Batwa community, you can enjoy entertainment and hear stories about their distinctive culture.
Hiking or walking through Bwindi Forest in search of mountain gorillas is known as gorilla habituation. Depending on the trek that day, which is typically influenced by the weather and the gorillas’ movements in the forest, this activity can be quite taxing, but because it is so well-organized, there is a 99 percent chance that you will see the gorillas. In order to determine where the mountain gorillas spent their final night in the jungle, the walk is led by highly skilled trackers who keep an eye on their movements during the day. From there, you begin your search for them. Throughout the journey, the two ranger guides will lead you through path construction, trail cleaning, and information sharing about the Bwindi forest and mountain gorillas. You will return to the starting site at the end of the journey to pick up your certificates, which serve as proof that you were successful in tracking mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

DAY 09: Visit Lake Mutanda for relaxing and do various optional activities

Following breakfast at the lodge, you will travel to Lake Mutanda for your lake adventure. There, you will see a variety of birds during a paddle boat ride. From the pontoon at Sheba’s campsite to the Rwajenge landing spot, traditional dugout canoes will be waiting for us to set out on the Mutanda portion of the trip. Numerous common species, such as Hadada Ibis, Crested Cranes, and Black-headed Herons, can be found in Lake Mutanda. There are tiny homesteads scattered around the region, where people may be seen caring to their fields and animals. In the black volcanic soils, where potatoes are widely grown, cabbages, green beans, and peas are also grown on what seem like unfathomably high slopes. Following the canoe boat excursion, you will eat lunch at the campsite before unwinding. You will return by car to your lodge later to spend the night there.

DAY 10: Hike Nkuringo to Buhoma trail

After breakfast today, you will leave your lodge and load your bags into the car; you will just need a small backpack to carry supplies for your walk. After traveling to Buhoma, where he will be ready to drive you to your lodge, your guide will take you to the beginning of the Nkuringo to Buhoma trek. A national park ranger will accompany you on the trek and lead you all the way to the national park headquarters in Buhoma.
Both the Ivy River and the Kashasha River walking trails make up the Nkuringo to Buhoma walking trail. The natural treasures of Bwindi Forest, including as different bird species, primates, rivers, waterfalls, and tree species, can be seen up close on both trails. The Ivy River Trail takes two and a half hours to walk, while the Kashasha River Trail takes four to five hours from Nkuringo to Buhoma or six to seven hours from Buhoma to Nkuringo. It takes four hours to trek through the forest from the Ivy River to Buhoma. The entire trip took six and a half hours. Both hikes are fantastic and daring; let us know and we’ll make the appropriate reservations for you.
