21 Days Congo, Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda Adventure
You will get the chance to view all five of the Big Five species and primates, including mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, and golden monkeys, during your 21-day wildlife safari across Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, and Uganda. Day by day
DAY 01: Pick up from Kigali and Transfer to Bukima in Congo
The driver will pick you up from Kigali’s hotel or airport early in the morning and give you an overview of the safari. After that, you will travel to Bukima in Congo, where you will stop for lunch after a four-hour drive to Goma town. After lunch, he will keep driving to Bukima, where you will spend the night. Overnight and dinner.
DAY 02: Gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park-Congo
Your guide will take you to the Park Headquarters for a briefing after your early breakfast, where you will join other people before beginning your gorilla walk in the Virunga forest. Depending on where you are assigned to hike with the mountain gorilla family on that specific day, this trek may take anything from thirty minutes to seven hours. After locating the gorillas, you will have the opportunity to spend an hour with them, observing their behavior and taking pictures. Following this, you will be required to return to the Park Headquarters to conclude your journey.
DAY 03: Transfer to Goma for overnight
DAY 04: Nyiragongo hiking to the summit
After an early morning meal at the Lodge, you will travel to Bukima for a briefing and be accompanied by an informed guide. Starting at 10:30 am, you will trek for approximately five hours to reach the summit of Nyiragongo Volcano, during which you will rest twice. There will be thorns and tall trees along the way, and the path will be steep, muddy, and slick. Dinner and lodging at the mountain camp tents upon arrival at the summits
DAY 05: Descend the Nyiragongo Volcano and drive to Lake Kivu for overnight
After breakfast, you will meet the driver and head back to Goma, where you will take a city tour, explore the Goma caves, and spend the night at Lake Kivu after descending from Nyiragongo volcano mountain.
DAY 06: Travel to Volcanoes National Park
You will travel to Kinigi in Ruhengeri by car in the morning. After checking into your accommodation, you will go to Iby’wachu village to see traditional dance performances.
DAY 07: Golden Monkey tracking and Hike to the Dian Fossey Tomb
You will attend a briefing at the park headquarters in the morning. There will be a packed lunch and drinking water available. After that, follow the golden monkeys across the forest. Depending on how the golden monkeys travel across the forest, this exercise could take you anywhere from one to five hours. You will return to the resort for lunch and some downtime after spending no more than an hour with the golden monkeys. After that, you will go to the Dian Fossey Tomb, a former well-known gorilla tourism conservationist.
DAY 08: Drive to Akagera National Park for an evening game drive and overnight
Following breakfast at your lodge, you will travel to Akagera National Park in eastern Rwanda, which borders Tanzania. This park features stunning undulating plains with rolling grasslands, lighter acacia woodland, and dense, broad-leafed woodland, as well as a vast network of lakes connected by papyrus swamps that form a vast wetland.
DAY 09: Game drives and boat trip on Lake Ihema
Take a game drive in the park early in the morning. Hippos, elephants, buffalos, giraffes, hyenas, crocodiles, and several other creatures, as well as birds, will be seen during the game drives. Following a late breakfast, you could choose to spend some time in nature or unwind at the lodge before the afternoon canoe trip on Lake Ihema.
DAY 10: Transfer to Burundi, Bujumbura to hotel le chandelier or similar for overnight.
Following breakfast in the morning, you will travel south across the border to Burundi before continuing on to Bujumbura.
DAY 11: Bujumbura to kibira National Park
You will take a half-day cultural tour of Bujumbura, the capital, on your first day in Burundi. After touring the Independence Hero Monument and other historical landmarks, you will go to Kibira National Park to spend the night there.
DAY 12: A guided nature walk in Kibira Forest National Park to search for primates and after drive back to hotel le chandelier or similar in Bujumbura for overnight.
Chimpanzees, baboons, and black and white Colubus monkeys can all be found in Kibira Forest. Savor the view of the Congo-Nile Ridge and the charming landscape of Burundi’s verdant highlands. If time permits, you might be able to explore the Teza tea industry or pay a visit to the Pygmy people of Busekera.
DAY 13: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Following breakfast in the morning, you will travel south via Kigali, stopping along the way at the Genocide Museum before continuing on to Nyungwe National Park.
DAY 14: Chimpanzee tracking and optional Canopy walk in Nyungwe National Park.
Transfer to the park headquarters after breakfast, where you will receive a briefing from the park warden on proper conduct when tracking chimps. After that, they will proceed to the beginning of the Chimpanzee Hiking Trail. Along the walk, you may encounter chimpanzees, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and baboons. Go back to the lodge to unwind.Alternatively, you might opt to take a guided natural walk in Nyungwe Forest National Park.
DAY 15: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Following breakfast, you will travel north to Bwindi National Park, where you will stop for lunch and possibly visit the Kigali Genocide Museum before continuing on to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
DAY 16: Gorilla trekking and optional community walk
You will receive a briefing from Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger guides at the park headquarters following breakfast at the accommodation. Following the briefing, the ranger will take you into the dense, impenetrable forest to begin your hunt for the rare and endangered mountain gorilla species. Every gorilla hunt starts at the location where they were last spotted the day before. You will only be permitted to spend an hour interacting with these well-known creatures once you get at their location, and you should always maintain the utmost silence when around gorillas. You are permitted to take pictures and so forth.
It can take you anything from three to eight hours to locate the gorillas, making it a really exhausting experience. But if you get to meet these gorillas, you’ll quickly forget the difficulties you had to overcome to locate them and instead cherish the positive experiences you will have with them. Following the encounter, you will arrive at the lodge late for dinner and spend the night there.
DAY 17: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park for an evening game drive and overnight
To meet our driving guide, get up early, eat breakfast, and check out. The incredible journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park will begin. Check in at the lodge when you arrive in the evening.
DAY 18: Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel
To catch the early risers, have breakfast in the morning and then drive a safari vehicle over the Kasenyi plains for morning game. Elephants, buffalos, lions, leopards, bushbucks, kobs, and more are among the creatures to view.
After two to three hours of driving, head directly to Mweya for lunch at the canteen. As you prepare for the afternoon trip down the Kazinga Channel, eat lunch. Return to the lodge for dinner, rest, and overnight after the cruise.
DAY 19: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
You will leave Bwindi today and travel to Kibale National Park, stopping along the way for lunch. Upon arrival, you will have the opportunity to take a nature walk in the Bigodi Swamp, where you may witness the local birds and monkeys.
DAY 20: Chimpanzee Tracking
After finishing an early breakfast, you will be led to the Kanyanchu headquarters for a briefing regarding the track you will be running in a few hours. From there, you will begin following chimpanzees, but you will also observe twelve other primate species, including baboons, vervet monkeys, and gray-cheeked mangabeys, among others, today.
DAY 21: Drive Kampala/Entebbe to end the tour
Following breakfast at the lodge, you will say goodbye to the staff before continuing on your journey to Kampala or Entebbe, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or taken by plane back home.
