It will be an unforgettable honeymoon experience.

14 Days Luxury Primates Uganda SafariDay by day

DAY 01:  Arrival at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to the Hotel for overnight

You will be taken to your lodge for the night in Entebbe after arriving and checking out of Entebbe International Airport on this first day of your incredible luxury safari in Uganda.

DAY 02: Boat trip to Ngamba Chimpanzee Sanctuary for an encounter with the orphaned chimpanzees

You will drive to the Lake Victoria pier for a boat tour to Ngamba Chimpanzee Sanctuary to meet the orphaned chimpanzees after breakfast at your resort. Each way, the boat ride takes from 45 minutes to an hour. You can feed the chimps, learn about them, and see the guides engage with them through various activities including plays and sound calls while you’re at Ngamba. Along with taking in the views and sounds of Lake Victoria, this tour will also allow you to see a variety of bird species.

DAY 03: Drive to Lake Bunyonyi for overnight via a stop at the Equator

After breakfast at your lodge today, you will travel to Lake Bunyonyi in southern Uganda. Following your afternoon arrival at your lodge for lunch, unwinding while taking in the lake views, dinner, and overnight, you will make a detour at the Equator for an Equator experience, coffee, and photos. Lake Bunyonyi is well-known for its several stunning historical islands and a variety of bird species that you can witness while canoeing.

DAY 04: Morning canoe boat ride on the lake and transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

You will take a private canoe boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi to see the historical islands, enjoy sightseeing, and observe birds after breakfast at the lodge. Following any extra activities, you will go to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, where you will spend the night and have dinner. Since Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is the only national park in East Africa where you can see mountain gorillas and golden monkeys, it has earned the moniker “Where Gold Meets Silver.” Since it is situated inside the three volcano mountains of Gahinga, Muhavura, and Sabinyo, you can also go hiking there. This makes it a unique destination for most adventure travelers and tourists.

DAY 05: Golden Monkey tracking and Batwa cultural trail experience

Following breakfast at the Lodge, you will drive to the park headquarters for a briefing. From there, you will begin your hike through the forest in search of the Golden Monkeys. Park rangers will walk and hike with you along designated trails, guiding you the entire time. Once you locate the Golden Monkeys, you will have an hour-long encounter with them before walking back to meet your driver guide. Depending on when you finish the hike and your level of fitness, you will have the opportunity to participate in the Batwa cultural trail experience.

DAY 06: Gorilla tracking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Following breakfast at the lodge, you will go to the park headquarters to receive a briefing from ranger guides from the Uganda Wildlife Authority. They will then assign you to a gorilla family group for the day’s trekking. You will begin your quest for the endangered rare species of mountain gorillas in the Gahinga montane forest with a group of eight visitors, researchers, and ranger guides. Every gorilla hunt starts at the location where they were last spotted the day before. You will only have an hour to spend with these well-known animals once you get at their location. After you walk back to the main area to pick up your certificates, you are free to take pictures and other pictures. Your driver guide will be there to take you back to your lodge.

DAY 07: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for overnight

If you would like, you can stay at the lodge for a longer period of time so that you can drive to Bwindi after lunch or visit the local community, including the schools, where you can inspire the students and offer them gifts.

DAY 08: Gorilla Habituation/tracking Experience in Bwindi Forest

You will drive to the park headquarters after breakfast at the accommodation for a briefing from Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger guides who will assign you a gorilla family group to walk. In a party of four tourists, researchers, and ranger guides, you will hunt the deep jungle for endangered Mountain Gorillas. Gorillas are always searched from the previous day’s location. The famous gorillas can only be interacted with for four hours, and you must keep silence. You can capture photos, etc. Evening community walks in the local Batwa community will delight and teach you about their culture.
Gorilla habituation involves hiking/walking through Bwindi Forest in search of mountain gorillas. The trek can be strenuous depending on weather and gorilla movement, but it is well organized, so you have 99% chances of seeing them. Advanced trackers track mountain gorillas all day in the jungle to determine where they nested the night before, which is when you start hunting for them. Two ranger guides will conduct you through the walk, clearing and building pathways and imparting mountain gorilla and Bwindi forest information. After the trip, you’ll return to the start to get your mountain gorilla tracking credentials in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

DAY 09: Visit Lake Mutanda for relaxing and do various optional activities

After breakfast at the Lodge, you’ll head to Lake Mutanda for a canoe excursion to see birds. We’ll board traditional dugout canoes for the Mutanda portion from Sheba’s campground pontoon to Rwajenge landing place. Lake Mutanda is home to Hadada Ibis, Crested Cranes, and Black-headed Herons. The countryside is scattered with modest homesteads where residents farm and raise livestock. In black volcanic soils, cabbages, green beans, and peas are grown on steep gradients. Potatoes are abundant. Lunch and relaxation at the campsite follow the paddle boat excursion. Drive back to your lodge to sleep.

DAY 10: Hike Nkuringo to Buhoma trail

Today after breakfast, you will check out of your lodge and place your belongings in the car, keeping only a small backpack for your walk. After driving you to the Nkuringo-Buhoma trailhead, your guide will wait for you in Buhoma to transport you to your lodge. A national park ranger will lead you to Buhoma, the park headquarters, on the hike.

Nkuringo to Buhoma trail includes Ivy River and Kashasha River trekking trails. Both routes allow tourists to see Bwindi Forest’s birds, primates, rivers, waterfalls, and trees. The Ivy River Trail takes 2 and 1/2 hours, whereas the Kashasha River Trail takes 4–5 hours or 6–7 hours between Nkuringo and Buhoma. Walking through the forest from the Ivy River to Buhoma takes 4 hours. Travel time: 6 1/2 hours. Let us know the trail you like and we’ll book it.

DAY 11: Relax at the Lodge and later in the afternoon go for Batwa cultural Experience

Today you’ll rest at the Lodge and then enjoy Batwa culture in the afternoon.

DAY 12: Drive to Kibale Forest National park via Queen Elizabeth National Park for an en-route game drive and afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel

Elephants, big herds of buffalos, leopards, lions, bushbucks, kobs, antelopes, and more are seen during en-route wildlife drives. After a hot lunch on Mweya Peninsula, you’ll take an afternoon boat cruise safari on Kazinga Channel, which is a highlight of your Queen Elizabeth National Park safari. You’ll then drive to Kibale Forest National Park, stopping for lunch en route. Kibale Forest National Park attracts birders and primates with 13 primate species and 335 bird species.

DAY 13: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi wetland walk

After finishing an early breakfast, you will be led to the Kanyanchu headquarters for a briefing regarding the track you will be running in a few hours. From there, you will begin following chimpanzees, but you will also observe twelve other primate species, including baboons, vervet monkeys, and gray-cheeked mangabeys, among others, today.

DAY 14: Visit the top of the world, crater lakes and after drive back to Entebbe for your departure flight out to mark the end of the 14 Days Uganda Primates Luxury Safari
